হে মনুষ্য, যাহা ভাল, তাহা তিনি তোমাকে জানাইয়াছেন; বস্তুতঃ ন্যায্য আচরণ, দয়ায় অনুরাগ ও নম্রভাবে তোমার ঈশ্বরের সহিত গমনাগমন, ইহা ব্যতিরেকে সদাপ্রভু তোমার কাছে আর কিসের অনুসন্ধান করেন?

ওহে মানুষ, প্রভু তোমাদের বলেছেন ভালো বলতে কি বোঝায়। সেইটিই প্রভু তোমাদের কাছ থেকে চাইছেন: অন্যান্য লোকেদের সঙ্গে ন্যায় আচরণ কর। দয়া এবং আনুগত্য ভালবাসো। তোমাদের ঈশ্বরের সঙ্গে নম্রভাবে বাস কর।

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

কেননা পুত্র পিতাকে লঘুজ্ঞান করে, কন্যা আপন মাতার, ও পুত্রবধূ আপন শাশুড়ীর বিরুদ্ধে উঠে, আপন আপন পরিজনই মনুষ্যের শত্রু।

নিজের বাড়ীর লোকেরাই মানুষের শত্রু হবে। পুত্র তার পিতাকে সম্মান করবে না। কন্যা তার মাতার বিরুদ্ধে যাবে। একজন বধূ তার শ্বাশুড়ীর বিরুদ্ধে যাবে।

for the son treats the father with contempt, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.
