আর দেখ, তুমি গর্ভবতী হইয়া পুত্র প্রসব করিবে, ও তাঁহার নাম যীশু রাখিবে।

তুমি অন্তঃসত্ত্বা হয়ে এক পুত্রের জন্ম দেবে, আর তুমি তাঁর নাম যীশু রাখবে।

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

ধন্য তোমরা, যখন লোকে মনুষ্যপুত্রের নিমিত্ত তোমাদিগকে দ্বেষ করে, আর যখন তোমাদিগকে পৃথক্ করিয়া দেয়, ও নিন্দা করে, এবং তোমাদের নাম মন্দ বলিয়া দূর করিয়া দেয়।

ধন্য তোমরা যখন মানবপুত্রের লোক বলে অন্যেরা তোমাদের ঘৃণা করে, সমাজচ্যুত করে, অপমান করে, তোমাদের নাম মুখে আনতে চায় না এবং তোমাদেরকে কিছুতেই মেনে নিতে পারে না।

Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

যে তোমার এক গালে চড় মারে, তাহার দিকে অন্য গালও পাতিয়া দিও; এবং যে তোমার চোগা তুলিয়া লয়, তাহাকে আঙরাখাটীও লইতে বারণ করিও না।

কেউ যদি তোমার একগালে চড় মারে, তার কাছে অপর গালটি বাড়িয়ে দাও। কেউ যদি তোমার চাদর কেড়ে নেয়, তাকে তোমার জামাটিও নিতে দাও।

To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

তোমাদের পিতা যেমন দয়ালু, তোমরাও তেমনি দয়ালু হও।

তোমাদের পিতা, যেমন দয়ালু তোমরাও তেমন দয়ালু হও।

Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

আর তোমরা বিচার করিও না, তাহাতে বিচারিত হইবে না। আর দোষী করিও না, তাহাতে দোষীকৃত হইবে না। তোমরা ছাড়িয়া দিও, তাহাতে তোমাদেরও ছাড়িয়া দেওয়া যাইবে।

অপরের বিচার করো না, তাহলে তোমাদেরও বিচারের সম্মুখীন হতে হবে না। অপরের দোষ ধরো না, তাহলে তোমাদেরও দোষ ধরা হবে না। অন্যকে ক্ষমা কোর, তাহলে তোমাদেরও ক্ষমা করা হবে।

Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

দেও, তাহাতে তোমাদিগকেও দেওয়া যাইবে; লোকে বিলক্ষণ পরিমাণে চাপিয়া ঝাঁকরিয়া উপচিয়া তোমাদের কোলে দিবে; কারণ তোমরা যে পরিমাণে পরিমাণ কর, সেই পরিমাণে তোমাদেরও নিমিত্তে পরিমাণ করা যাইবে।

দান কর, প্রতিদান তুমিও পাবে। তারা তোমাদের অনেক বেশী করে, চেপে চেপে, ঝাঁকিয়ে ঝাঁকিয়ে উপচে দেবে। কারণ অন্যের জন্য যে মাপে মেপে দিচ্ছ, সেই মাপেই তোমাদের মেপে দেওয়া হবে।

give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

শিষ্য গুরু হইতে বড় নয়, কিন্তু যে কেহ পরিপক্ক হয়, সে আপন গুরুর তুল্য হইবে।

কোন ছাত্র তার শিক্ষকের উর্দ্ধে নয়; কিন্তু শিক্ষা সম্পূর্ণ হলে প্রত্যেক ছাত্র তাঁর শিক্ষকের মতো হতে পারে।

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

কারণ এমন ভাল গাছ নাই, যাহাতে মন্দ ফল ধরে, এবং এমন মন্দ গাছও নাই, যাহাতে ভাল ফল ধরে।

কারণ এমন কোন ভাল গাছ নেই যাতে খারাপ ফল ধরে, আবার এমন কোন খারাপ গাছ নেই যাতে ভাল ফল ধরে।

For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit;

For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

স্ব স্ব ফল দ্বারাই প্রত্যেক গাছ চেনা যায়; লোকে ত কাঁটাবন হইতে ডুমুর সংগ্রহ করে না, এবং শ্যাকুলের ঝোপ হইতে দ্রাক্ষাফল সংগ্রহ করে না।

প্রত্যেক গাছকে তার ফল দিয়েই চেনা যায়। লোকে কাঁটা-ঝোপ থেকে ডুমুর ফল তোলে না, বা বুনো ঝোপ থেকে দ্রাক্ষা সংগ্রহ করে না।

for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.

 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

কেননা যে কেহ আপন প্রাণ রক্ষা করিতে ইচ্ছা করে, সে তাহা হারাইবে; কিন্তু যে কেহ আমার নিমিত্ত আপন প্রাণ হারায়, সেই তাহা রক্ষা করিবে।

যে কেউ নিজের জীবন রক্ষা করতে চায় সে তা হারাবে, কিন্তু যে কেউ আমার জন্য নিজের জীবন হারায় সে তা রক্ষা করবে।

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

পরে তিনি তাহাদিগকে বলিলেন, সাবধান, সর্ব্বপ্রকার লোভ হইতে আপনাদিগকে রক্ষা করিও, কেননা উপচিয়া পড়িলেও মনুষ্যের সম্পত্তিতে তাহার জীবন হয় না।

এরপর যীশু লোকদের বললেন, ‘সাবধান! সমস্ত রকম লোভ থেকে নিজেদের দূরে রাখ, কারণ মানুষের প্রয়োজনের অতিরিক্ত সম্পত্তি থাকলেও তার জীবন তার সম্পত্তির ওপর নির্ভর করে না।’

And He said to them, "Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

কেননা যে কেহ আপনাকে উচ্চ করে, তাহাকে নত করা যাইবে, আর যে কেহ আপনাকে নত করে, তাহাকে উচ্চ করা যাইবে।

যে কেউ নিজেকে সম্মান দিতে চায় তাকে নত করা হবে, আর যে নিজেকে নত করে তাকে সম্মানিত করা হবে।

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

আবার যে ব্যক্তি তাঁহাকে নিমন্ত্রণ করিয়াছিল, তাহাকেও তিনি বলিলেন, তুমি যখন মধ্যাহ্নভোজ কিম্বা রাত্রিভোজ প্রস্তুত কর, তখন তোমার বন্ধুগণকে, বা তোমার ভ্রাতাদিগকে, বা তোমার জ্ঞাতিদিগকে কিম্বা ধনী প্রতিবাসিগণকে ডাকিও না, কি জানি তাহারাও তোমাকে পাল্টা নিমন্ত্রণ করিবে, আর তুমি প্রতিদান পাইবে। কিন্তু তুমি যখন ভোজ প্রস্তুত কর, তখন দরিদ্র, নুলা, খঞ্জ ও অন্ধদিগকে নিমন্ত্রণ করিও, তাহাতে ধন্য হইবে, কেননা তোমার প্রতিদান করিতে তাহাদের কিছু নাই। তাই ধার্ম্মিকগণের পুনরুত্থানের সময় তুমি প্রতিদান পাইবে।

তখন যে তাঁকে নিমন্ত্রণ করেছিল, তাকে যীশু বললেন, ‘তুমি যখন ভোজের আয়োজন করবে তখন তোমার বন্ধু, ভাই, আত্মীয়স্বজন বা ধনী প্রতিবেশীদের নিমন্ত্রণ কর না, কারণ তারা তোমাকে পাল্টা নিমন্ত্রণ করে প্রতিদান দেবে। কিন্তু তুমি যখন ভোজের আয়োজন করবে তখন দরিদ্র, খোঁড়া, বিকলাঙ্গ ও অন্ধদের নিমন্ত্রণ কর। তাতে যাদের প্রতিদান দেবার ক্ষমতা নেই, সেই রকম লোকদের নিমন্ত্রণ করার জন্য ধার্মিকদের পুনরুত্থানের সময় ঈশ্বর তোমায় পুরষ্কার দেবেন।’

He said also to the man who had invited him, "When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just."

hen said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

কিন্তু তুমি যখন ভোজ প্রস্তুত কর, তখন দরিদ্র, নুলা, খঞ্জ ও অন্ধদিগকে নিমন্ত্রণ করিও; 

কিন্তু তুমি যখন ভোজের আয়োজন করবে তখন দরিদ্র, খোঁড়া, বিকলাঙ্গ ও অন্ধদের নিমন্ত্রণ কোর।

But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;

But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

তাহাতে ধন্য হইবে, কেননা তোমার প্রতিদান করিতে তাহাদের কিছু নাই, তাই ধার্মিকগণের পুনরুত্থানের সময়ে তুমি প্রতিদান পাইবে।

তাতে যাদের প্রতিদান দেবার ক্ষমতা নেই, সেই রকম লোকদের নিমন্ত্রণ করার জন্য ধার্মিকদের পুনরুত্থানের সময় ঈশ্বর তোমায় পুরস্কার দেবেন।

and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

যে কেহ নিজের ক্রুশ বহন না করে ও আমার পশ্চাৎ পশ্চাৎ না আইসে, সে আমার শিষ্য হইতে পারে না।

যে কেউ নিজের ক্রুশ কাঁধে তুলে নিয়ে আমায় অনুসরণ না করে, সে আমার শিষ্য হতে পারে না।

Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

কেননা বিদ্যুৎ যেমন আকাশের নীচে এক দিক্ হইতে চমকাইলে আকাশের নীচে অন্য দিক্ পর্য্যন্ত আলোকিত হয়, মনুষ্যপুত্র আপনার দিনে সেইরূপ হইবেন।

কারণ বিদ্যুত্ চমকালে আকাশের এক প্রান্ত থেকে অন্য প্রান্ত পর্যন্ত যেমন আলো হয়ে যায়, মানবপুত্রের দিনে তিনি সেইরকম হবেন।

For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.

For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

যে কেহ আপন প্রাণ লাভ করিতে চেষ্টা করে, সে তাহা হারাইবে; আর যে কেহ প্রাণ হারায়, সে তাহা বাঁচাইবে।

যে তার জীবন নিরাপদ রাখতে চায়, সে তা খোয়াবে; আর যে তার জীবন হারায়, সেই তা বাঁচিয়ে রাখবে।

Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

তিনি কহিলেন, যাহা মনুষ্যের অসাধ্য, তাহা ঈশ্বরের সাধ্য।

যীশু বললেন, ‘মানুষের পক্ষে যা সম্ভব নয় ঈশ্বরের পক্ষে তা সম্ভব।’

But he said, "What is impossible with man is possible with God."

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

কারণ যাহা হারাইয়া গিয়াছিল, তাহার অন্বেষণ ও পরিত্রাণ করিতে মনুষ্যপুত্র আসিয়াছেন।

কারণ যা হারিয়ে গিয়েছিল তা খুঁজে বের করতে ও উদ্ধার করতেই মানবপুত্র এ জগতে এসেছেন।

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

“ধন্য সেই রাজা, যিনি প্রভুর নামে আসিতেছেন; স্বর্গে শান্তি এবং ঊর্দ্ধলোকে মহিমা।”

‘ধন্য! সেই রাজা যিনি প্রভুর নামে আসছেন! স্বর্গে শান্তি ও ঊর্দ্ধে মহিমা।’

"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

ঈশ্বর ত মৃতদের ঈশ্বর নহেন, কিন্তু জীবিতদের; কেননা তাহার সাক্ষাতে সকলেই জীবিত।

ঈশ্বর মৃত লোকদের ঈশ্বর নন, তিনি জীবিত লোকদেরই ঈশ্বর। তারা সকলেই যারা আগামী যুগের যোগ্য লোক ঈশ্বরের চোখে জীবিত থাকে।

Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.

For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

আকাশের ও পৃথিবীর লোপ হইবে, কিন্তু আমার বাক্যের লোপ কখনও হইবে না।

আকাশ ও পৃথিবীর লোপ পাবে, কিন্তু আমার বাক্য কখনও লোপ পাবে না।

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

পিতঃ, ইহাদিগকে ক্ষমা কর, কেননা ইহারা কি করিতেছে, তাহা জানে না।

পিতা, এদের ক্ষমা কর, কারণ এরা যে কি করছে তা জানে না।

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

আমি তোমাকে সত্য বলিতেছি, অদ্যই তুমি পরমদেশে আমার সঙ্গে উপস্থিত হইবে।

আমি তোমায় সত্যি বলছি, তুমি আজকেই আমার সঙ্গে পরমদেশে উপস্থিত হবে।

Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.

Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

“পিতঃ, তোমার হস্তে আমার আত্মা সমর্পণ করি।”

‘পিতা আমি তোমার হাতে আমার আত্মাকে সঁপে দিচ্ছি।’

"Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!"

Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.
