এই কথা বিশ্বসনীয় ও সর্ব্বতোভাবে গ্রহনের যোগ্য যে, খ্রীষ্ট যীশু পাপীদের পরিত্রাণ করিবার জন্য জগতে আসিয়াছেন; তাহাদের মধ্যে আমি অগ্রগণ্য।

এখন আমি যা বলছি তা সত্য, তা সম্পূর্ণভাবে তোমাদের গ্রহণ করা উচিত। খ্রীষ্ট যীশু পাপীদের উদ্ধার করার জন্য জগতে এসেছেন। তাদের মধ্যে আমিই তো সবচেয়ে বড় পাপী।

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

তথাপি যদি আত্মসংযমের সহিত বিশ্বাসে, প্রেমে ও পবিত্রতায় তাহারা স্থির থাকে, তবে নারী সন্তান প্রসব দিয়া পরিত্রাণ পাইবে।

তবু যদি আত্মসংযমের সাথে বিশ্বাসে, প্রেমে ও পবিত্রতায় তারা জীবনযাপন করতে থাকে, তবে নারী মাতৃত্বের দায়িত্ব পালন করে উদ্ধার পাবে।

Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.

বাস্তবিক ঈশ্বরের সৃষ্ট সমস্ত বস্তুই ভাল, ধন্যবাদের সঙ্গে গ্রহণ করলে কিছুই অগ্রাহ্য নয়। কারণ ঈশ্বরের বাক্য অনুসারে ও প্রার্থনা দ্বারা তা শুচিশুদ্ধ হয়।

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

কিন্তু কেহ যদি আপনার সম্পর্কীয় লোকদের বিশেষতঃ নিজ পরিজনগণের জন্য চিন্তা না করে, তাহা হইলে সে বিশ্বাস অস্বীকার করিয়াছে, এবং অবিশ্বাসী অপেক্ষা অধম হইয়াছে।

কোন লোক যদি তার আত্মীয় স্বজন আর বিশেষ করে তার পরিবারের লোকদের ভরণপোষন না করে, তার মানে সে বিশ্বাসীদের পথ থেকে সরে গেছে, সে তো অবিশ্বাসীর চেয়েও অধম।

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

কিন্তু যাহারা ধনী হইতে বাসনা করে, তাহারা পরীক্ষাতে ও ফাঁদে এবং নানাবিধ মূঢ় ও হানিকর অভিলাষে পতিত হয়, সে সকল মনুষ্যদিগকে সংহারে ও বিনাশে মগ্ন করে।

কিন্তু যাদের ধনী হবার ইচ্ছা, তারা প্রলোভনে এবং ফাঁদে পড়ে নানারকম মূর্খামির কাজে ও ক্ষতিকর বাসনায় পড়ে যা তাদের ধ্বংস ও বিনাশের পথে ঠেলে দেয়।

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

কেননা ধনাসক্তি সকল মন্দের একটা মূল; তাহাতে রত হওয়াতে কতক লোক বিশ্বাস হইতে বিপথগামী হইয়াছে, এবং অনেক যাতনারূপ কন্টকে আপনারা আপনাদিগকে বিদ্ধ করিয়াছে।

কারণ সকল মন্দের মূলে আছে অর্থের প্রতি আসক্তি। সেই অর্থের লালসায় কত লোক বিশ্বাস থেকে দূরে সরে গেছে; আর তার ফলে তারা নিজেদের জীবনে অনেক অনেক দুঃখ ব্যথা ডেকে এনেছে।

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
