মনুষ্য কি ঈশ্বরকে ঠকাইবে? তোমরা ত আমাকে ঠকাইয়া থাক। কিন্তু তোমরা বলিতেছ, কিসে তোমাকে ঠকাইয়াছি? দশমাংশে ও উপহারে।

কোন লোক কি ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে চুরি করতে পারে? কিন্তু তোমরা আমার কাছ থেকে চুরি করছ।তোমরা বল, “আমরা তোমার কাছ থেকে কি চুরি করেছি?” তোমাদের জিনিষগুলোর থেকে এক দশমাংশ আমাকে দেওয়া উচিত্‌ ছিল। তোমাদের উচিত্‌ ছিল আমাকে বিশেষ উপহার দেওয়া। কিন্তু তোমরা আমাকে সেইগুলি দাওনি।

Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions.

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

তোমরা অভিশাপে শাপগ্রস্ত; হাঁ, তোমরা, এই সমস্ত জাতি, আমাকেই ঠকাইতেছ।

তোমাদের পুরো জাতি আমার কাছ থেকে জিনিষ চুরি করেছে। তোমরা সবাই অভিশাপে শাপগ্রস্ত।

You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.

Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

তোমরা সমস্ত দশমাংশ ভাণ্ডারে আন, যেন আমার গৃহে খাদ্য থাকে; আর তোমরা ইহাতে আমার পরীক্ষা কর, ইহা বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু কহেন, আমি আকাশের দ্বার সকল মুক্ত করিয়া তোমাদের প্রতি অপরিমেয় আশীর্ব্বাদ বর্ষণ করি কি না।

তোমাদের উত্পন্ন শস্যের, পশুপালের এবং আয়ের এক দশমাংশ কোষাগারে নিয়ে এসো যাতে মন্দিরে সঞ্চয়ের জোগান থাকে। আর এতে আমায় পরীক্ষা করে দেখ আমি আকাশের দরজা খুলে তোমাদের পর্যাপ্ত পরিমাণে আশীর্বাদ করি কি না।

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
